The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Responsible for the preoperative preparation of patients, including baseline assessment, skin preparation as required, and completion of the surgical checklist. Responsible for Phase II recovery of surgical patients including monitoring of physiological status, surgical wound care and discharge teaching.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse license.
• Experience in surgical nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patient populations.
• Address psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment.
• Prepare patients preoperatively, including baseline assessment and skin preparation.
• Complete the surgical checklist.
• Monitor physiological status of surgical patients during Phase II recovery.
• Provide surgical wound care and discharge teaching.
