About The Position

The RN PreOp position at Rush Oak Brook Surgery Center involves providing comprehensive preoperative care to patients, ensuring their safety and comfort before surgical procedures. The role requires assessing patients' preoperative status, developing individualized care plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care. The RN will also be responsible for educating patients and their families about the surgical process and managing any co-morbid conditions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
  • One year of ICU, ED, PACU, and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
  • Current state licensure to practice within good standings.
  • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment.
  • Specialty certification in Perioperative or perianesthesia Nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
  • Assess patient's preoperative status according to facility policies.
  • Interpret information from various noninvasive and invasive monitors.
  • Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
  • Communicate the patient's current status throughout the perianesthesia continuum of care.
  • Demonstrate safe operation of equipment and machinery.
  • Provide acute pain and comfort management as needed.
  • Administer medications safely and correctly.
  • Perform interventions to maintain the integrity of the patient's wound and tissue perfusion.
  • Provide nursing and appropriate monitoring in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Manage patient's fluid as prescribed.
  • Provide education regarding the expected psychosocial response and pain management.
  • Involve patient or designated support person in decisions affecting care.
  • Evaluate the patient's progress toward attaining outcomes.
  • Provide hand-off report to other teammates that are accurate and pertinent to the patient's condition.
  • Document episode of care completely and accurately.
  • Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning patient care.
  • Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
  • Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly wage of USD $41.00 to $51.00 per hour.
