Shift: Second Shift (United States of America) RN - Poison Center Specialist Position Highlights: Nebraska Medicine is seeking a RN - Poison Center Specialist to join our Poison Center team, this role is located in Omaha, NE. The RN – Poison Center Specialist is responsible for answering and managing incoming calls from the public and healthcare providers regarding poison exposures and toxicology concerns, obtaining detailed exposure histories, assessing the severity of each case, and providing evidence-based treatment recommendations using established protocols. The role includes determining the appropriate level of care, facilitating referrals to emergency departments or other healthcare facilities when needed, and conducting follow-up calls to monitor patient outcomes. The specialist documents all case information accurately in the poison center database in accordance with state and national standards, collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals, participates in quality improvement activities, maintains ongoing toxicology education, and works toward or maintains certification as a Certified Specialist in Poison Information (CSPI).
