About The Position

The RN Plastic Surgery Practice Supervisor at UC San Diego Health is responsible for leading and managing a team of hybrid remote nurses in triage and care navigation. This role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring quality patient care, and fostering a positive team culture. The supervisor will develop and implement policies for efficient triage processes, collaborate with clinical teams, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California.
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Five years of direct supervisory experience.
  • Experience in clinic/center management with expertise in practice management, scheduling, and regulatory compliance.
  • Broad knowledge of patient population served and the requirements for service delivery.
  • Recent ambulatory clinic triage experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional teamwork competencies and excellent leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN).
  • Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery experience.
  • Gender Health experience.
  • Experience with Epic.
  • Supervisory experience in an ambulatory clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and facilitates the flow of patient care activities and coordination of the interdisciplinary clinical staff for assigned clinics/centers.
  • Assures quality care and compliance with internal policy, external regulations, and accepted practices across the continuum of care.
  • May supervise fiscal and administrative operations.
  • Coordinates clinic patient care services, resolves system issues, and manages scheduling based on patient census.
  • Mentors staff to communicate with patients regarding their conditions, treatments, and concerns.
  • Evaluates subordinate staff and participates in decision-making on hiring, salary actions, and performance ratings.
  • Assures completion of orientation and training of all patient care staff.
  • Identifies and implements department-specific educational opportunities for staff in collaboration with ambulatory administration.
  • Serves as a resource to clinic staff on patient care issues, new policies, and technology.
  • Participates in routine audits, accreditation, and licensing inspection readiness activities.
  • Monitors services provided by support departments and collaborates to improve utilization and efficiency.
  • Promotes effective teamwork, communication, and collaboration.
  • Communicates regularly with management on practice activities and operational or human resources issues.
  • Encourages staff in meeting professional goals using standard practice evaluation tools.
  • Consults with clinical leaders on developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies for performance improvement.
  • Monitors and ensures fiscal and material resources are managed according to budgetary parameters.
