About The Position

Hampton Behavioral Health Center is a private behavioral healthcare center and offers the most advanced behavioral health, diagnostic treatment services for adults, adolescents and older adults in both inpatient and outpatient programs. We are looking for a Per Diem Registered Nurses to work day shift in our ECT suite on our procedures days of Monday, Wednesday or Fridays. The hours are 6AM -2PM. We have flexibility in scheduling and you would not be required to work any set number of shifts and we are closed on all holidays. Hampton offers Electroconvulsive Therapy on both an inpatient and an outpatient basis to all of our clients who meet the standard protocols. Our Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT) program at Hampton remains one of the most successful treatment options for many types of mental illnesses when other interventions are neither safe nor effective. Hampton Behavioral Health Center has a state-of-the-art ECT suite that offers patients the option for ECT if clinically appropriate.

Requirements

  • Current New Jersey RN licensure; BSN/BS preferred.
  • Minimum requirements are one (1) year of psychiatric nursing experience, or two (2) years of ICU experience.
  • ANA Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing certification preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout his/her ECT experience.
  • Maintain a friendly, positive and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff.
  • Provide patient education during all phases of the patient’s experience in ECT.
  • Ensure that the proper supplies and equipment are available.
  • Identify actual and potential risks to patients and others. Take action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety in the facility.
  • Review the patient chart and health history to assure that the necessary ECT evaluations have been completed. Ensure that consent form has been signed.
  • Prepare patients for ECT by providing ongoing information to the patient and his/her caregiver to assure that they understand all procedures and feel as comfortable as possible.
  • Perform nursing assessment of patient, start IV and ordered medications.
  • Communicate with other health care team members to assure continuity of care.
