The Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) provides medical support to children, under the direction of the Physician. Duties may include communicating with children of different abilities and developmental levels about their symptoms, talking to patients and their families about medical issues and recording the child’s vital signs and lab results.

Requirements

Associates Degree in Nursing required
Must possess licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey
AHA accredited BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Must demonstrate excellent customer service, communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
Influenza Vaccinations are a requirement for employment. If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date, during the influenza season, if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical exemption

Nice To Haves

Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
Previous Pediatric experience preferred

Responsibilities

Assessing a child's needs and providing initial care
Identifying changes in children's symptoms and intervening in emergency situations
Participating in pain management for children
Administer medications, draw blood, and give childhood vaccinations following age-appropriate guidelines
Monitor temperature, pulse, breathing, and blood pressure and keep accurate records
Evaluate children for signs and symptoms of abuse
Provide supportive care to dying children
Deal with the anxieties and demands of parents and help families deal with their child’s illness or injury
Remain up to date on the latest developments, rules and regulations, drug therapies, equipment and treatment procedures
