About The Position

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. The position involves caring for patients with life threatening, medically complex critical illness or diagnosis, delivering highly skilled care with the use of technology and complex interventions. The nurse will initiate measures for emergency treatment of patients including infant resuscitation and advanced life support procedures, implement and monitor patient care plans, and serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. The role requires the application of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in healthcare to nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient’s age-specific needs and clinical needs as described in the department's Scope of Service.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
  • Six months' registered nurse experience.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification.
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license in the state of work location.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Cares for patients with life threatening, medically complex critical illness or diagnosis.
  • Delivers highly skilled care with use of technology and complex interventions.
  • Initiates measures for emergency treatment of patients including infant resuscitation and advanced life support procedures.
  • Implements and monitors patient care plans.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Applies the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice.
  • Demonstrates the professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
