On our team, you will provide stellar care at one of the top healthcare organizations in the nation. Fairview Hospital’s PACU is inclusive of both pre-anesthesia care and post-anesthesia care. The pre-anesthesia care area is designed to prepare patients for surgery, while the post-anesthesia care area provides post-operative care to general, orthopaedic, vascular, thoracic, and pediatric patients. The post-anesthesia care area also provides post-procedure monitoring for endoscopy and interventional radiology patients. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. You will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. How You’ll Benefit Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities. We’re dedicated to providing what matters most to you. Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working days between 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., with weekend and call coverage, averaging 3–5 on-call shifts every six weeks. The department is open from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., with holidays designated as call only and no regular shifts scheduled.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) through American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire
  • External applicants: two years of recent related nursing
  • Internal applicants: less than two years of experience, but post-orientation/90-day probationary period considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
  • Military RN experience considered

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.
