About The Position

A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient in the BEH Surgery Pre-op Holding area and Post Anesthesia Care unit. The PACU nurse can also float to intra-op, and would be responsible for the assessment, documentation, and evaluation of the plan of care for the patient during the perioperative phase of surgery.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee.
• BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.
• ACLS certification.
• One year nursing experience.
• Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills.
• Knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations.
• Knowledge of current trends and new developments in nursing.

Nice To Haves

• One to three years' experience in critical care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and/or indirect care of patients in the BEH Surgery Pre-op Holding area and Post Anesthesia Care unit.
• Float to intra-op as needed.
• Assess, document, and evaluate the plan of care for patients during the perioperative phase of surgery.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
• Collaborate with medical, anesthesia, managerial, and clinical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Prioritize duties and responsibilities as a patient advocate.
