About The Position

The Allegheny General Ortho/Trauma/Spine Unit is a 57 bed telemetry unit that specializes in the care of patients with complex Ortho/Trauma needs, as well as joint replacements and neurosurgical spine surgeries. Occasionally, this unit also handles the care of adolescent pediatric trauma patients. The position is responsible and accountable for a designated patient population, providing care based on the nursing process. The role requires clinical assessment skills and care planning skills, ensuring safe and effective care for the age population served according to regulatory requirements. The nurse will professionally direct and manage the activities of the patient care delivery by the team members and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team for the plan of care from admission through discharge. Additionally, the nurse will assess the learning needs of patients and families and provide education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn.

Requirements

  • Minimum Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Current State of PA RN licensure or current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • One (1) year general nursing experience required.
  • One (1) year experience on specific unit preferred.
