About The Position

3 West is a specialized inpatient unit providing comprehensive care for patients ranging from adolescents to geriatrics. Our patients often require spinal surgery, orthopedic surgery, care for traumatic orthopedic injuries, or elective total joint replacements . We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality, compassionate care tailored to the unique needs of each patient. As a Registered Nurse on 3 West, you will play a vital role in the recovery journey of patients undergoing orthopedic and post-surgical care. Using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation , you will provide safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care while upholding our nursing department standards.

Requirements

  • Education - ASN required. BSN Preferred.
  • Experience - Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital setting required.
  • Licensure/Certification - Specialty certification recognized by the Magnet Recognition Program™ preferred.
  • Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse License from that state that is designated as "Compact" or "Multi-State Privilege" using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. RN License from a compact state with a designation of "Single State" does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license.
  • Specialty certification preferred.
  • Ability to apply the standards of professional nursing practice with compassion and empathy.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must pocess high level of organization and communication skills.
  • Basic Life Support
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Sup

Responsibilities

  • Administering medications, IV therapy, and blood product infusions.
  • Managing pain utilizing IV, oral, and patient-controlled analgesia (PCA).
  • Providing oxygen therapy, wound care, and surgical incision management.
  • Setting up and monitoring traction and maintaining specialized orthopedic equipment.
  • Collaborating with physicians, surgeons, therapists, and families to create individualized care plans.
  • Supporting patient education to promote recovery, mobility, and long-term health outcomes.
