About The Position

The position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Orthopedic/Spine SICU/MICU at Skokie Hospital, Skokie, IL. This is a full-time role requiring 36 hours per week with 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, including rotating weekends and holidays. The RN will develop and evaluate patient care plans, communicate with patients and families, document health data, and provide education tailored to individual patient needs. The role also involves collaboration with healthcare teams, participation in performance improvement activities, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

• Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required.
• Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing required; BSN strongly preferred.
• BLS/CPR Certification for the Healthcare Provider required.
• Critical Care or prior ICU nursing experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes.
• Evaluates patient’s progress toward attainment of outcomes and revises diagnosis and interventions as needed.
• Provides patient assessment and collects health data involving patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
• Communicates plan of care to patient and family regularly, respecting their wishes.
• Documents patient health data, interventions, and communications.
• Individualizes patient and family teaching based on thorough assessment.
• Assesses patient’s cultural background and modifies teaching plans accordingly.
• Identifies community resources to support patient self-management of disease.
• Contributes to professional development of peers and students.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and nursing research.
• Monitors effectiveness of wound/ostomy treatment plans.
• Assists in transporting acutely ill patients as needed.
