About The Position

The position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Orthopedics and Spine at Skokie Hospital, Skokie, IL. This is a full-time role requiring 36 hours per week, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 7:30 PM, including rotating weekends and holidays. The RN will develop and evaluate patient care plans, communicate with patients and families, document health data, and provide individualized teaching based on patient assessments. The role also involves collaboration with healthcare teams, participation in performance improvement activities, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

  • Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required.
  • Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing required; BSN strongly preferred.
  • AHA BLS/CPR Certification for the Healthcare Provider required.
  • Prior nursing experience or CNA experience preferred for new graduates.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Evaluates patient’s progress toward attainment of outcomes and revises diagnosis and interventions as needed.
  • Provides patient assessment and collects health data involving patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
  • Communicates the plan of care to patients and families regularly, respecting their wishes.
  • Documents patient health data, interventions, and communications.
  • Individualizes patient and family teaching based on thorough assessments.
  • Assesses patient’s cultural background and modifies teaching plans accordingly.
  • Identifies community resources to support patient self-management of disease.
  • Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and students.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and nursing research.
  • Keeps abreast of research and practice trends in wound/ostomy/skin care.
  • Monitors effectiveness of wound/ostomy treatment plans.
  • Assists in transporting acutely ill patients as needed.
