About The Position

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, contributes professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients and their families. Maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses, Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health within the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other care givers.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited nursing program.
  • Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in primary state.
  • Must apply within 90 days for licensure in secondary state.
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must possess and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training or obtain within 6 months from date of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for surgery, which includes assessing the patient's medical history, ensuring all necessary preoperative instructions are followed, and verifying the patient's consent.
  • Assists the surgical team by providing necessary instruments, maintaining a sterile environment, and monitoring the patient's vital signs.
  • Updates medical records with detailed notes about the procedure and assesses for any complications and communicates with the healthcare team.
