About The Position

Endeavor Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room on a per diem basis in Chicago, IL. This position requires part-time hours, primarily Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with rotating coverage needed for shifts from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, and 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The role may also require on-call duties based on the selected per diem level commitment and involves floating to other Endeavor Health locations as necessary.

Requirements

  • Requires at least one year of experience as a staff nurse.
  • Two or more years of nursing experience is preferred.
  • Operating Room Experience Required.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Demonstrates mastery of nursing skills.
  • Communicates effectively and is able to guide and supervise nursing personnel.
  • Current Illinois Nursing licensure.
  • American Heart Association CPR Certification.
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP may be required within six months depending on the unit requirements.

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate the delivery of nursing care to patients and their families.
  • Maintains competency reflective of current standards practice.

  • Integrates ethical provisions in all areas of nursing practice.
  • Integrates evidence-based practice and research findings into nursing practice.
  • Recognizes and adjusts to situations that vary from the norm.
  • Promotes safety measures to prevent patient and staff injuries.
  • Guides and supervises staff in the provision of patient care.
  • Enhances own professional growth and development.
  • Maintains a safe therapeutic working environment and recognizes need for action in emergency situations.
  • Documentation is thoroughly and timely completed.
  • Assists in positioning and responds to safety of patient.
  • Provides for accurate care and handling of specimens.
  • Observes, checks, and enforces strict standards of asepsis.
  • Observes, checks, and monitors all equipment used during surgery to confirm that items are functioning properly.
  • Documents intra operatively in Epic.
  • Conducts appropriate surgical counts.
  • Selects and handles instruments and supplies used for the operation, passing them to the surgeon.
