The 3W Oncology Unit specializes in the management and treatment of various forms of cancer. As an RN on the team, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. You may also be requested to float across different areas. Additionally, you can seek additional Oncology education and Chemotherapy Certification to become an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN). Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources. A PRN caregiver in this position works varying nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM. A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of acute care RN experience in a hospital setting OR licensed military RN experience
  • Cancer-specific certification or demonstrated ongoing qualifying education within the timeframe of the facilities accreditation cycle
  • ONS Chemo/Bio course within two years of hire

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
