About The Position

The RN supports employee health services by providing clinical care, education, and follow-up for Erlanger staff. Ensures compliance with employee health policies and assists with data collection for regulatory reporting. A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for the practice of nursing according to the rules and regulations defined by the state's Nurse Practice Act, Erlanger's Models of Care/Practice, policies and procedures. The nurse is responsible for the delivery of occupational health services as assigned and for collaboration with other healthcare professionals in providing comprehensive employee health care. The nurse addresses physical, emotional, and educational needs of employees and coordinates care plans with supervisors, occupational medicine providers, and other healthcare team members. The nurse is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives and occupational health compliance measures appropriate to the position. In addition, the nurse conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission, Vision, and Values of Erlanger Health System.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee.
  • BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and to be maintained going forward.
  • ACLS required prior to completion of departmental orientation and maintain ongoing thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Prior experience in the delivery of patient care in an occupational healthcare setting.
  • Prior experience in case management, with a strong preference for Worker’s Compensation cases.
  • Prior experience in OSHA recordkeeping.
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or Certified Occupational Health Nurse – Specialist (COHN-S) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct screenings, immunizations, and TB testing.
  • Triage and manage employee health concerns and exposures.
  • Perform return-to-work and fit-for-duty assessments under NP supervision.
  • Maintain employee health records and documentation.
  • Provide health education and counseling to employees.
  • Support regulatory audits and reporting (OSHA logs, TJC, etc.).
  • Serve as a PLHCP (Professional Licensed Health Care Provider).
