About The Position

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a full time opportunity for an Occupational Health RN for White Sands Missile Range near Las Cruces, New Mexico. The position emphasizes work-life balance in a low stress environment focusing on employee health, with a schedule of Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, and freedom from evening, holiday, and on-call responsibilities. The role involves caring for federal employees rather than the general public.

Requirements

  • A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program.
  • At least one full year of professional nursing experience including occupational or routine patient assessments.
  • Active, valid, current, and unrestricted license to practice nursing as a registered nurse in any US state/jurisdiction.
  • BLS certification through American Heart Association.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Occupational Health or related area such as public health/community health, outpatient clinic, school nursing, or physician office nursing.
  • Recent clinical experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of the military health care system including TRICARE health benefits.
  • Knowledge of principles of fee-for-services, preferred provider network, and managed care/HMO organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing major components of occupational health management to ensure health care interventions for individuals.
  • Working with base personnel on medically disqualified, compensation, and limited duty programs.
  • Assisting in the investigations of illness and injuries for both active-duty military and civilian personnel.
  • Supporting Occupational Medicine Services, Aerospace Medicine, and Civilian Personnel on coordination and compilation of compensation data.
  • Coordinating patient care through a continuum and facilitating optimal outcomes in clinical care, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensuring compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
  • Assessing patient needs telephonically.
  • Recognizing adverse signs and symptoms and reacting quickly in emergency situations.
  • Communicating and collaborating effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Performing accurate documentation of all activity, including telephone contacts.
  • Making referral appointments and arranging specialty care as appropriate.
  • Setting up, operating, and monitoring specialized medical equipment.
  • Performing/assisting with procedures such as bladder catheterizations, administration of oxygen, visual acuity tests, EKGs, and phlebotomy.
  • Ensuring a safe work environment and promoting employee safe work habits.
