About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for identifying the patient's alterations in health, assessing the patient's human response to actual and potential health problems, implementing nursing interventions based on theoretical concepts from nursing and other arts and sciences, and evaluating the effectiveness of nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The RN provides care for patients in accordance with physician orders, policies, procedures, established standards, and administrative policies. Whenever possible, the patient, the family, or those significant to the patient are an integral part of the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation efforts of the IP RN. The RN is responsible for supervising and directing care provided by Licensed Practical Nurses and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel, as well as assigning and delegating care to other qualified members of the health care team. The IP RN coordinates care between other professional disciplines as needed. Unit-based activities which contribute to a positive work and professional environment are performed, including but not limited to: managing care within established standards of nursing care and practice as defined by the state of Florida, initiating care to stabilize patients and assist in managing life support needs by collaborating with physicians and clinical staff, collecting laboratory samples and performing lab testing in accordance with CLIA regulations, and ensuring proper supplies, appropriate medical equipment, and medications are available for patient care. The RN also participates in QAPI activities, adheres to established facility/departmental policies and procedures, and coordinates discharge planning and post-acute placement of patients as required. Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a hospital progressive care or intensive care unit or equivalent experience
  • Current RN license in the State of Florida
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • BSN and professional nursing board certification preferred at time of hire

Nice To Haves

  • BSN required within three years of hire for nurses hired after April 30, 2014
  • Professional nursing board certification required within two years of hire for nurses hired after June 30, 2011
