About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Obstetrics Unit at UnityPoint Health is a part-time role requiring 48 hours per pay period, with rotating 12-hour day and night shifts. Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing required.
  • Current RN Licensure in State of Iowa or applicable compact state.
  • CPR, ACLS (L&D Staff), NRP, STABLE (Nursery Staff), Fetal Monitoring (L&D Staff), and 2 hours annual stroke education required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and monitors total physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of adult, adolescent and neonate patients.
  • Develops and maintains an individualized, professionally modified plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and the patient/significant other.
  • Provides nursing care in accordance with nursing standards and the patient's plan of care.
  • Assesses and plans for discharge needs, evaluates educational needs of patients and significant others, and implements appropriate teaching protocols.
  • Communicates with other members of the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
  • Participates in unit operations, supporting goals of the Nursing unit and maintaining awareness of resource utilization.
  • Engages in non-direct patient care activities including educational activities, performance improvement activities, and committee participation.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful situations.
  • Assists physicians with procedures in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Well-Baby Nursery, and Intensive Care Nursery.
  • Circulates for cesarean sections and provides post-operative care.
  • Circulates and/or scrubs for vaginal deliveries.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of fetal monitoring and intervenes appropriately.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of epidural management.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in a safe environment that reduces the likelihood of medical errors.
