This unique opportunity will allow new RNs to work 50% of their time in our Obstetric High Risk Unit and 50% of their time in Labor & Delivery. Orientation will take place on both units and will be individualized according to the nurse’s experience. Woman’s Obstetric High Risk Unit consists of 20 rooms where our nursing staff is specially trained to care for patients with problems related to pregnancy. We provide condition-specific care and intensive monitoring for both patient and baby. Our nurses care for patients on bed rest with high blood pressure, preterm labor, premature rupture of membranes and other problems that sometimes occur with pregnancy. After having a baby some patients require more frequent monitoring and interventions, such as patients with severe hypertension, sepsis, and postpartum hemorrhage not requiring critical care. This unit also cares for patients experiencing a perinatal loss. Our Labor and Delivery Unit was designed exclusively for new moms and babies. Woman’s has delivered more than 320,000 babies since our inception in 1968, but we still treat every birth as unique and special. Our patient rooms, designed by nurses, offer a home-like setting along with the assurance of having the most advanced technology available. A typical obstetrical patient includes antepartum, observation, outpatient testing, circulating cesarean deliveries, triage and laboring patients who are minimal to high-risk.
