The October RN Residency program at CHRISTUS is now accepting applications for the summer cohort across various facilities including Shoreline, South, Kleberg, Beeville, and Alice. This program is specifically designed for recent nursing graduates or registered nurses with less than six months of work experience. The Nurse Residency Pathway aims to facilitate a smooth transition into the fast-paced hospital environment, equipping participants with greater confidence, comprehensive knowledge, and an enhanced skill set. The program is structured by nurses for nurses, ensuring that all aspects of learning are organized and overseen effectively. The ultimate goal of the residency is to improve patient care, making it safer and more consistent. This nationally recognized and evidence-based program provides professional and emotional support through mentorship from experienced nurses who serve as mentors, preceptors, and de-briefers. They guide and evaluate the growth of each resident at every step of the program. In addition to clinical learning, participants will engage in interactive virtual classes led by subject matter experts, which will help strengthen their educational foundation. The program welcomes all applicants who plan to complete the RN examination and licensure process before the start of the next cohort, which is scheduled for October 2024. It is essential for candidates to have their RN license prior to the start date. The residency program is committed to achieving nursing excellence and providing the best possible care to patients, which is facilitated by a nursing staff that is well-prepared in evidence-based practices and research-supported knowledge. The program includes a fully-hosted web-based suite of development applications that offers 24/7 access to curriculum, clinical performance tracking, evaluation materials, and real-time reporting. Rapid feedback mechanisms are in place to help residents track their clinical progress, connect with preceptors, and engage with other residents effectively.
