JOB SUMMARY: The RN Resident will complete fourteen to twenty (14-20) weeks of residency training, during which employee will be assigned to a designated Critical Care Unit. Training under the program will include the following nursing and hospital orientations and educational elements: Weeks 1- 3 Basic Nursing Orientation, EPIC computer orientation, Basic ECG, Soft ID Specimen Collection, Form Fast and Self-scheduling training, and unit orientation. Enrollment in the Critical Care Course (6 classes total to be completed) Weeks 4-9 Continued orientation to unit standards, procedures, protocols and nursing policy with Preceptor oversight. A gradual increase of patient acuity. Weeks 11-10 Continued orientation to unit standards, procedures, protocols and nursing policy with support from Preceptor. A gradual increase of patient acuity assignments during twelve (12) hour shifts. Weeks 12–20: Full patient assignments with support from Preceptor, validation of completion of all Program expectations by the end of Week 14, and Preceptor evaluation of RN Resident. ACLS is required prior to completion of the RN Critical Care Residency and must be completed prior to caring for any critical care patient independently.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, preferably a BSN program.
  • Candidates must be eligible for, and/or passed, the NCLEX to obtain permanent R.N. licensure prior to residency training start date
  • Current BLS from the American Heart Association.
  • Have no more than 6 months of experience in an acute hospital setting as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current Nurse Tech experience or completed a preceptorship in Critical Care.
  • Must commit to full-time employment during the entire 14-weeks of the program schedule.
  • Able to work 12 hour shifts rotating nights, days, weekends and/or holidays
