About The Position

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) is a registered nurse prepared at the master’s or doctorate level as a Nurse Practitioner. The Nurse Practitioner in the Urgent Care will manage primary and secondary care conditions, and evaluate tertiary care conditions guided by a Standardized Procedure. Primary care conditions are defined as common acute, chronic stable, or health care maintenance conditions; secondary care conditions are unfamiliar, uncommon, unstable, or complex conditions; and tertiary care conditions are acute, life-threatening conditions such as respiratory and cardiac arrest while using the five (5) Simply Better Steps.

Requirements

  • Current California Nurse Practitioner License
  • California Furnishing License
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • National Certification in related specialty
  • Current California RN license
  • Current NPI
  • Current DEA
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Provider

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of Family Nurse Practitioner experience preferred
  • 1-3 years of Nurse Practitioner experience in an Urgent Care setting preferred.

  • Meet ambulatory nursing clinical competencies for Nurse Practitioner licensure.
  • Maintain understanding of and work within the Scope of Practice based on role/licensure/education.
  • Identify improvement opportunities, implement countermeasures, and escalate to appropriate management resource as needed.
  • Collaborate with all departments to coordinate patient care.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, complete and timely; reflecting patient’s plan of care.
  • Demonstrate continued development of clinical expertise and current knowledge of healthcare trends and education.
  • Participate in processes that improve Standards of Care and practice in the delivery of high quality patient care.
  • Can work independently and interdependently with members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintains patient care within the work flow parameters of the Urgent Care and Visit Time expectations.
  • Provides individualized education to patient(s) and/or family regarding preventive care, acute and/or chronic medical condition, medical treatment and prescribed medications.
  • Provide consultations to patients when necessary.
  • Effectively can identify patients who require a higher level of care and transfer appropriately.
  • Complete history and physical exam for the patients seen in the urgent care.
  • Order, interpret and document diagnostic tests results and formulate plan based on assessment and results.
  • Perform any additional or miscellaneous duties as requested by the management team within the scope of knowledge and ability.
