About The Position

The RN NICU Nights position at St. Mark's Hospital involves providing critical care to newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The role requires performing life-sustaining procedures, monitoring vital signs, and educating parents about their newborn's care. The position emphasizes collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure optimal treatment plans and patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Current State of Utah or Compact Registered Nurse License.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (available after hire).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (available after hire).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (available after hire).
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. certification must be obtained within 90 days from date of hire.
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification preferred; must obtain within 6 months from date of hire.
  • One or more years of recent NICU experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform life-sustaining care for newborns in need.
  • Assess neonates at delivery and perform neonatal resuscitation if necessary.
  • Administer medications and monitor vital signs of newborns.
  • Provide vital nutrients to newborns and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Work closely with department leadership and physicians to coordinate treatment plans.
  • Educate parents on day-to-day operations, treatment plans, and at-home care procedures.
  • Act in a composed and professional manner, especially under pressure.
