About The Position

This position qualifies for our UNC Hospitals New Grad RN Incentive Program, which includes up to $15,000 commitment incentive or up to $25,000 tuition loan forgiveness. In addition, this position is also eligible for up to $10,000 in relocation assistance (based on location). The Surgical Trauma Critical Care Unit is part of the New Surgical Hospital. It is a fast-paced, Level 1 Trauma certified, Beacon Gold Award for Excellence designated, 40-bed unit specializing in the care of critically injured trauma and surgical patients. This unit serves a variety of surgical patients in addition to trauma to include, but not limited to, transplant, plastics, oncology, obstetrics, gynecology, gastrointestinal, and orthopedics. Teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration are hallmarks for this unit while providing expert 'Carolina Care' to the patients and families we serve. Our ONE GREAT TEAM facilitates admissions, treatments, transfers, and discharges of patients 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. This opportunity is for a new grad nurse who is currently in their final semester of nursing school or who have graduated from nursing school within the past 12 months of the anticipated start date and have worked as an RN for less than 6 months. New Graduate Nurses are part of the UNC Medical Center Residency Program (NRP). This program is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationships which support development as a professional nurse. This is a 36 hour/week position, day/night and weekend rotation. It is expected that applicants will have their RN license and be able to practice in North Carolina prior to the first day of employment. Requirements

  • Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina by the day of clinical care.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • No prior experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
