About The Position

Transition position provides guided orientation to help integrate and apply medical knowledge and sharpen technical skills for newly graduated Registered Nurses. Accountable for utilizing the nursing process to provide safe, age-appropriate, direct and indirect patient care, while practicing within the scope of practice of the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

Requirements

• Current unencumbered Oregon RN license required.
• Healthcare Provider Level BLS required.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school program required (must be within the previous 12 months of the SHS New Graduate RN Program start date).
• STABLE required within 1 year of hire.
• Basic Fetal Monitoring skills required.
• ACLS required within six (6) months of hire unless arranged differently with department manager.
• NRP required within six (6) months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of the physical and psychological changes of pregnancy, birth and the immediate postpartum period for the mother and her neonate.
• Ability to initiate appropriate interventions in caring for the family during the immediate newborn period.
• Possess assessment skills specific to the high risk pregnancy.

Responsibilities
