The Scripps New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN) Residency Training Program is designed for new graduate nurses to facilitate their transition into clinical practice. This 40-week program provides education, coaching, and mentoring from Clinical Coaches and Preceptor RNs, helping new graduates develop their competence, confidence, critical thinking, and documentation skills. Upon successful completion, participants will be placed in a position within the Scripps system, with training occurring in various units. The program requires availability for both day and night shifts, and no paid time off is allowed during this period.

  • Participate in a structured 40-week residency program designed for new graduate nurses.
  • Receive education, coaching, and mentoring from Clinical Coaches and Preceptor RNs.
  • Develop competence, confidence, critical thinking, and documentation skills in a clinical environment.
  • Train as part of a collective group in various units within the Scripps system.
  • Complete required training shifts, including both day and night shifts.
  • Current California RN License by the program start date.
  • BLS for Health Care Provider certification from the American Heart Association by program start date.
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association may be required for selected units by program start date.
  • Completed an accredited nursing program within the last 12 months at the date of application.
  • Six months or less of RN experience at the date of application.
  • Experience in a clinical setting during nursing education.
  • Paid time off after the completion of the residency program.
