Fairview Hospital's Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides care to infants that need treatment to recover from severe illnesses and plays a vital role in nursing infants to thrive and achieve health weight post-birth. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to neonates, implementing and monitoring patient care plans, administering medication and treatments, assessing and coordinating patients’ discharge plans, and monitoring, recording and communicating patients’ condition. Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources. A caregiver in this role works nights + on-call shifts from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through American Heart Association (AHA) certification within one year of hire
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • NICU, Med/Surg or adult ICU experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to neonates in accordance with established healthcare organization policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Implements and monitors patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
