About The Position

Williamsburg, Virginia Overview Works under the supervision of the Practice Manager and Physician. Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients. The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Responsible for supervising and delegating non-professional personnel working directly with him/her to ensure optimum patient care. Must demonstrate competence in dealing with age related needs of specific patient populations served in their assigned unit/dept. Works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Medical Group. May float to other practices within the region providing operational support as needed. What you will do Maintains excellent clinical competency by adhering to the standard clinical expectations for Riverside Medical Group. Able to obtain vital signs proficiently (including manual vital signs when mechanical devices are not available). Completes all required competencies and education to maintain skill level to provide safe patient care. Provides complete patient assessment, including vital signs, medication reconciliation, and pre-examination procedures. Assesses patient’s medication management to include patient compliance, inventory, and educational needs. Assists the providers in all aspects of the consultation, treatment, procedures, and follow-up care. Documents data and assessments in the patient record. Completes patient consults and testing orders, insurance pre-certification, and documentation appropriately to assure proper reimbursement. Documents billing codes at the end of each nursing visit as required. Routes notes to providers for co-signatures as required. Delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately in order to facilitate safe, quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met. Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations. Evaluates practice support needs and identifies resources to meet the needs. Provides patient/family health counseling and education as needed to include but not limited to medications, procedures, and testing. Answers My Chart messages or telephone calls from patients same day. Performs triage. Communicates timely with providers, vendors, and other team members. Actively engages in practice activities to assure patient and team safety.

Requirements

  • Program Graduate, Diploma or Associate Program graduate (Required)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
  • Department specific skills will be required if entering a practice that performs moderate sedation. To include, maintaining ACLS certification, yearly competency validation of moderate sedation procedures, airway management, and emergency management procedures.

  • 1 year Medical office setting (Preferred)
