About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct primary nursing care to patients with cardiovascular/pulmonary/vascular health deficits, where outcomes may be unpredictable. This role involves performing comprehensive assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of complex multisystem health care deficits, as well as directing the nursing care of unstable patients or those requiring complex care management. The RN must handle multiple demands and tasks simultaneously, demonstrating clinical problem-solving skills. Supported by the Director of Critical Care Nursing, Clinical Team Leader, and charge nurse, the RN is expected to assume unit leadership roles, including serving as the Charge Nurse, participating in committee leadership and/or involvement, and conducting unit orientation and education. The position also involves directing and guiding the use of resources for patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited diploma, associate degree or baccalaureate degree nursing program.
  • Non-BSN’s must complete a BSN degree within 5 years’ of hire.
  • NJ State Nursing License.
  • BLS certification.
  • Interpersonal skills.

  • Analytical skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years’ experience in critical care nursing to work in critical care units.
  • Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 90 days of hire or promotion -or- at the first available course offering.
  • IV Therapy Certification within 90 days of hire or promotion -or- at the first available course offering.
  • Hemodynamics within 90 days of hire or promotion -or- at the first available course offering.
  • Mock Code Work Shop within 90 days of hire or promotion -or- at the first available course offering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • ACLS Certification.
  • PALS Certification.

Responsibilities
