About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Health in Temple, TX is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse to join their Medical Surgical Telemetry Unit (STC-5). Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital is a 636-bed specialty care teaching hospital and the only Level 1 Trauma Center between Dallas and Austin. The STC-5 unit is a 36-bed telemetry monitored nursing unit that provides care for a wide variety of adult to geriatric patients with diverse medical diagnoses, including those from the ICU. The scope of service includes patients requiring medication regimens, impaired respiratory status management, airborne/contact/droplet precautions, nutritional support, wound and skin care, diagnostic procedures (thoracentesis, lumbar punctures, central line placement, paracentesis, angio-cath insertion, pacemaker, specimen collection), N/G suction, cardiac monitoring, care for GI abnormalities, severe sepsis, Bi-Pap machine operation, CHF, and multi-organ failure. Requirements

Graduate of RN School of Nursing
ADN required
Active RN License
Minimum of 6 Months of RN experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) Required or obtained within 30 days of starting
Grad of an Accredited Program
Specialized field of study should be nursing

Responsibilities

Work with a wide variety of patients ranging in age from Adults to Geriatrics
Care for patients with a wide variety of Medical Diagnoses, including those from the ICU (especially MICU)
Administer medication regimens
Manage patients with impaired respiratory status
Implement airborne, contact, and/or droplet precautions
Provide nutritional support
Perform wound and skin care
Assist with diagnostic procedures including thoracentesis, lumbar punctures, central line placement, paracentesis, angio-cath insertion, pacemaker, and collection of specimens
Manage patients requiring N/G suction
Provide cardiac monitoring
Care for patients with GI abnormalities
Manage severe sepsis cases
Operate Bi-Pap machines (external vent)
Care for patients with CHF
Manage multi-organ failure patients
Provide exceptional care and improve patient outcomes
Drive nursing practice throughout Baylor Scott & White Health through autonomy, authority, and accountability in collaboration with transformational nursing leadership
Promote Evidence-based practice, research, and innovations in nursing practice
Utilize inter-professional collaboration and professional competencies to meet the needs of patients to provide safe passage and quality outcomes
