About The Position

ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Omaha, Nebraska. This role focuses on providing comprehensive care to adult and post-operative recovery patients in a dynamic acute care environment. The MedSurg RN will be responsible for managing a 1:5 patient ratio and must be able to float within scope as needed to similar or lower-acuity units. The unit cares for oncology, post-operative, and general medical-surgical patients. Requirements

  • Active Nebraska RN license or Compact State RN license (required).
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN not required).
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical RN experience (required).
  • Epic EMR experience required.
  • Required Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support, AHA required)
  • Driver’s license required at submission to confirm 50-mile radius rule.
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility and may not be employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit Health, CHI, or Dignity Health facility.
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result in termination.
  • Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week contract.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed).
  • Recent tuberculosis (TB) test required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care for medical-surgical, post-operative, and oncology overflow patients.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary staff.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments safely and accurately.
  • Monitor, record, and report patient progress using Epic EMR.
  • Maintain patient safety by adhering to infection control, fall prevention, and medication administration standards.
  • Prepare patients for discharge by educating them and their families on continued care and recovery.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate holistic patient care.
  • Float as needed within scope to support hospital staffing needs.
  • Successfully complete the orientation pass/fail exam (open-book, minimum score of 90% required to continue assignment).
  • Comply with facility policies, including fingernail hygiene and hospital cancellation policies (up to 4 shifts per 13-week contract).
  • Must be available to work Christmas holiday.
