About The Position

ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Omaha, Nebraska. This role focuses on providing comprehensive care to adult and post-operative recovery patients in a dynamic acute care environment. The MedSurg RN will be responsible for managing a 1:5 patient ratio and must be able to float within scope as needed to similar or lower-acuity units. The unit cares for oncology, post-operative, and general medical-surgical patients. Requirements

Active Nebraska RN license or Compact State RN license (required).
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN not required).
Minimum of 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical RN experience (required).
Epic EMR experience required.
Required Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support, AHA required)
Driver’s license required at submission to confirm 50-mile radius rule.
Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility and may not be employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit Health, CHI, or Dignity Health facility.
Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result in termination.
Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week contract.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed).
Recent tuberculosis (TB) test required.

Responsibilities

Provide nursing care for medical-surgical, post-operative, and oncology overflow patients.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary staff.
Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments safely and accurately.
Monitor, record, and report patient progress using Epic EMR.
Maintain patient safety by adhering to infection control, fall prevention, and medication administration standards.
Prepare patients for discharge by educating them and their families on continued care and recovery.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate holistic patient care.
Float as needed within scope to support hospital staffing needs.
Successfully complete the orientation pass/fail exam (open-book, minimum score of 90% required to continue assignment).
Comply with facility policies, including fingernail hygiene and hospital cancellation policies (up to 4 shifts per 13-week contract).
Must be available to work Christmas holiday.
