The position is for a Staff RN in the Med Surg unit, specifically in the 4/5 Lied area. This 40-bed med-surg and telemetry unit specializes in post-operative, complex orthopedics, including total knee and hip replacements, complicated orthopedic cases, pulmonary, sepsis, gastrointestinal, endocrine, cardiac, renal, and psychiatric illnesses. Nurses will work with titratable drips, chest tubes, tracheostomies, wound care, high-oxygen delivery systems, and end-of-life care. The unit is known for innovation and teamwork, focusing on positivity and solutions over problems. The nursing care delivery model is designed for efficiency, and staffing models are based on patient acuity. The leadership team has over 95 combined years of orthopedic and med-surg experience, and they invest in staff growth and development. All new nurses will attend a nurse residency program that includes a medical surgical fellowship.

  • Provide, prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care with other health care providers to meet holistic care needs of a designated group of patients.
  • Work in an environment of care that may be long term, emergent, critical, acute, interventional, or procedural driven.
  • Associate's degree in nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program.
  • Effective communication skills required.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required based on department.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire or transfer date department dependent required.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) OR Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) within one year of hire or transfer date department dependent required.
  • Direct patient care experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in cardiology, cardiac drip management, critical care, emergency department, medical-surgical, obstetrics, cardiovascular rehabilitation, telemetry, oncology, neonatal intensive care, pediatric acute care, solid organ transplant, cath lab, EP lab, quality assurance related to health care, perioperative and special procedures in applicable nursing specialty area preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree preferred.
  • Courses including STABLE, smoking cessation counseling, basic critical care, or other specialty training courses preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred.
  • Proficient with use of email applications preferred.
  • Proficient with use of departmental equipment and systems such as patient care equipment, telecommunication systems, information systems, pneumatic tube system, general patient care supplies, and transport equipment preferred.
  • $15,000 sign-on bonus.
  • Eligible for Student Loan Repayment Program covering up to $437.50/month (up to $5,250 annually) with no lifetime maximum.
  • Total financial incentives can exceed $25,000 in the first two years.
  • Relocation package: $3,000 for adjoining states, $4,500 for non-adjoining states.
