About The Position

Corewell Health is offering up to $12,000 as a sign on bonus for this opportunity (nights only). The Medical Progressive Care evening shift time is 3:30 p.m. - 4:00 a.m. The unit, 3 North, is a 27-bed Medical Progressive Care Unit, offering a 3:1 or 4:1 nurse to patient ratio, based on patient acuity. This unit is designed to care for neuro, medical, and surgical patients requiring a higher level of care, who may also require frequent assessments and monitoring related to health state. Cardiac and pulse oximetry monitoring is done at bedside with a central monitoring system at the nurse station. The staffing mix of this fast-paced unit comprises Registered Nurses, Nurse Techs, Nursing Assistants, and Ward Secretaries. Dearborn Hospital is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the “Top 10 Hospitals” in Michigan, a major teaching and research hospital advancing care since 1953. It is a Level II trauma center and has been recognized for clinical excellence and innovation in orthopedics, neurosciences, women’s health, heart & vascular, and cancer care. Staff parking at the Dearborn hospital is free and onsite. The RN, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning the plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Requirements

  • Associates in Nursing
  • Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from one of the following organizations - American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Required upon hire
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months
  • For graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing: at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
  • 1 year of experience as an RN Preferred
