About The Position

The Medical-Oncology Unit at Corewell Health South is a 36-bed unit specializing in the care of adult patients with medical, cardiovascular, surgical, oncological, hospice and palliative needs. This diverse patient population offers team members a rich and rewarding environment for continuous learning and professional growth. Our unit provides comprehensive care throughout patient admission—from initial diagnosis through treatment, recovery, or palliation. We are deeply committed to a team-based approach, delivering not only high-quality nursing care but also essential educational and emotional support to patients and their families during every stage of their journey.

Requirements

• Associates in Nursing.
• Bachelors in Nursing within 5 years.
• Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role.
• Must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN).
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

• Chemotherapy Biotherapy - ONCC Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation within 2 years.
• Radiation Oncology, Infusion Clinic and Medical Oncology experience within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Deliver caring, competent patient care in conjunction with a mentoring Registered Nurse.
• Perform assessments in an ongoing and systematic manner.
• Formulate a goal-directed plan of care.
• Implement delegated interdependent and independent direct care activities based on skills learning and clinical training.
• Collaborate with mentoring RN on the nursing process, supporting documentation and other items as appropriate.
• Successfully obtain certification/licensure from the State of Michigan and transition into a Registered Nurse role within 60 days.
