About The Position

The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is dedicated to delivering the highest standard of nursing care to patients and their families, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through evidence -based practices, all within a supportive and healthy work environment. Our unit employs a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care, accommodating patients with a minimum weight of 40 kg and ages generally starting at 16 years with no upper age limit. Covered at 100% of the cost for full-time employees and 88% for dependents. $50K of term life insurance provided at no cost to the employee Two separate above market pension plans to choose from Vacation - 192 to 288 hours per year depending on length of service, prorated for part-time Holidays - up to 64 holiday hours per calendar year (employees accrue .0308 holiday hours for each hour paid – included in vacation accruals) Sick Leave - 96 hours per year, prorated for part-time Substantial public transportation discounts (Tri-met and C-Tran) Tuition Reimbursement Innovative Employee Assistance Program (EAP) including extensive wellness resources Function/Duties of Position Our patient diagnoses include, but are not limited to: Severe Septic Shock Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) Organ Failures Bone Marrow Transplant Post-Cardiac and Respiratory Arrest Alcohol and Drug Withdrawal Additionally, patients may present with extensive preexisting comorbidities, necessitating the involvement of specialized teams such as Nephrology, Pain Service, Infectious Disease, and others. Self-Management: Adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics, including responsibilities to promote health and safety, maintain professional integrity, and pursue ongoing personal and professional development. Team Integration: Effectively integrates into diverse team cultures by: Voicing concerns regarding questionable assignments and proposing alternatives. Inquiring about performance improvement initiatives. Actively participating in team huddles. Seeking appropriate resources to support work completion when floating to another unit within the shift. Annual Department specific requirements include: Mandatory competencies as defined by OHSU, the Critical Care Cluster Practice Council, and the Unit Based Nurse Practice Council May be required to provide continuing care and monitoring of patients in locations outside of MICU including MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, and Radiology.

Requirements

1 year critical care experience
BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date. Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
BLS must not expire during orientation
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
