About the Unit Reed City Campus has a 10 bed medical surgical unit. This campus is the perfect place to gain experience as a new nurse and grow your career! The patient population in Reed City is very diverse, it consists of primarily hospitalist medicine patients with a wide variety of diagnosis, some of which include: pneumonia, COPD, cellulitis, kidney failure, and bowel obstructions. These diagnoses provide the opportunity to develop acute care skills such as IV placement, chest tubes and NG placement/management. Reed City has a well-established team that works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team that includes hospitalists, care managers, social workers, pharmacy, nurse techs, physical therapists, and occupational therapists to provide quality care for our patients. We have a good mix of experienced RNs that work alongside our education team to provide our new hires and grads with a great onboarding experience. For scheduling we currently have a six week rotating core so you are able to determine ahead of time when to schedule appointments, etc. to maintain a good work life balance. Scope of work Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health.
