Caregivers at Mentor Hospital’s Med/Surg Unit provide care to adult patients with a variety of medical issues or patients preparing for or recovering from surgery. Med/surg caregivers care for a broad spectrum of patients, giving them a vast and broad clinical skillset. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care by interacting directly with patients, families, and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, understanding and nurturing to ensure quality patient care and effective life-saving treatment. This rewarding opportunity allows you to use your comprehensive skills and expertise to deliver outstanding care while providing numerous opportunities like tuition reimbursement, access to educational development courses and advance the Professional Ladder at Cleveland Clinic. A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• One year current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting
• Will consider military RN experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

• Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families.
