About The Position

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The RN assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The Med/Surg RN develops specialized skill in the area of cardiac care including telemetry monitoring. The RN is accountable for patient family education to assist the patient and family in understanding self care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. He/She promotes comfort and provides emotional support in a healing environment. Must be able to work 24 hours within a 4-week schedule, one shift must be on a weekend per 4-week schedule and one summer and winter holiday must be worked per calendar year. Per Diem Rate $49.25

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program.
  • Current NYS License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • BLS and ACLS required through the RQI system during clinical orientation.
  • CPI obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic Coronary Care obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Analytical skills to assess, prepare, implement and evaluate the outcomes of the plan of care patients and families
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
  • Computer literacy

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
  • One to two years of successful performance as an RN in an Acute care setting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record
