About The Position

The RN-Med/Surg position at Merrick Medical Center involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in a medical/surgical setting. The role focuses on assessing patient needs, participating in interdisciplinary care planning, and evaluating patient responses to treatment. The nurse will work full-time on the night shift, ensuring high-quality care and effective communication within the healthcare team.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program required.
• Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Nebraska or approved compact state.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire.
• Evidence of certification and/or instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal standards.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Certification in Trauma Nursing Course (TNCC) within one year of hire for Emergency Department assignments.

Responsibilities

• Assess and prioritize patient needs based on immediate conditions.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and meetings.
• Provide and delegate nursing care according to Nebraska statutes.
• Document patient care and progress toward clinical outcomes.
• Educate patients and families based on their needs and readiness to learn.
• Perform hourly rounding and bedside shift reports.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and adjust care plans as necessary.
• Facilitate patient transitions to the next level of care.
• Engage in professional development through seminars and workshops.
• Utilize quality improvement processes to enhance department operations.
