This position is for a Registered Nurse on the Med Surg Tele Oncology Unit at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA. The unit is a 33-bed department specializing in the care of Oncology, Palliative Care, and End of Life patients, featuring 11 semi-private and 11 private rooms. Registered Nurses on this unit are required to maintain Chemotherapy competency through Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification in chemotherapy-biotherapy administration. The unit also provides Telemetry monitoring for up to 10 patients, emphasizing excellent patient care in collaboration with a Multidisciplinary Team.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or equivalent
  • Current RN Licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Certification must be obtained within one year of hire
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) months experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate total nursing care for patients
  • Participate in patient and family teaching
  • Provide leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice within an assigned patient care unit
  • Possess knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age group of patients regularly served
