About The Position

A registered professional nurse employed by EMC in the Erlanger Orthopedic CW6 Orthopaedic Short Stay Unit is responsible for all aspects of direct and/or indirect care of the postoperative phase of the surgical experience.

Requirements

• Graduate from accredited School of Nursing.
• Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills
• Knowledge of organizational functions, policies, and regulations
• Knowledge of current trends and new developments
• Knowledge of principles and practices of nursing, applicable to those areas requiring special education
• Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee
• BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.
• ACLS to be completed within 6 Months of hire date.
• Completion of 8 Hours of Erlanger Online Education specific to Total Ankle, Hip, Knee and Shoulder Replacement
• Completion of 4 of these hours as Erlanger Online Education upon hire (EOLS's and other training will be assigned by Department Leadership and/or Educator).
• Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

Nice To Haves

• ACLS certification

Responsibilities

• Administer pharmacological drugs as ordered
• Perform procedures and operate equipment necessary for patient care as assigned
• Assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify patient's plan of care
• Communicate effectively with staff physicians, and other departments concerning all aspects of patient care
