About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing patients admitted or being seen for medical conditions or surgical procedures. This role involves performing the primary function of a professional nurse leader, which includes assessing, planning, guiding, and evaluating the nursing care provided to patients. The RN is expected to deliver safe, competent nursing care in adherence to facility policies, standards, and philosophy, while also providing professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. All nursing care will be founded on the principles of Patient Centered Care, requiring assessments related to specific conditions, therapies, and interventions. The RN will oversee and guide nursing employees under their supervision and is responsible for interacting with hospital staff and ancillary departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflict resolution. The position may require working weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, and/or on-call/call-back status, and demands the demonstration of Service Excellence standards at all times.

Requirements

  • May not have worked for any UHS facility for the past 3 months (90 days).
  • Minimum of two years of recent relevant acute care experience on a full-time basis or 4 years on a part-time basis.
  • Required to float to other areas where they are deemed competent to work.
  • Required to be available to work at least 4 full week-end shifts per month (defined as beginning on Friday at 7 p.m. and ending on Monday at 7 a.m.).
  • Required to be available to work 1 holiday per quarter as assigned by the facility (which may include Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and Easter or any other holiday designated by FDRMC if applicable).
  • Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the permanent license.
  • Must have and maintain BLS and ACLS.
  • Must have and maintain current certifications, according to unit specific needs.
  • Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program (for any and all certifications applicable through the AHA program).
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years in Med-surg or related department.
