The RN - Med Surg - 4th Floor Orthopaedic position at Bellevue Medical Center involves working in a collaborative Care Pair Model, where a nurse is paired with a CNA to provide better care for patients and enhance job satisfaction. This model allows for improved communication and coordination, leading to increased staff and patient satisfaction. The Med-Surg Orthopaedic Unit cares for a variety of patients, including those undergoing orthopaedic, oral-maxillofacial, plastics, general surgery, surgical oncology, and spinal surgery. The unit emphasizes teamwork, support, and positivity, with nurses collaborating closely with physical therapists to manage patients' pain effectively. Requirements

• Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program.
• Effective communication skills required.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required based on department.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire or transfer date department dependent required.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) OR Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) within one year of hire or transfer date department dependent required.

Nice To Haves

• Direct patient care experience preferred.
• Prior experience in areas such as cardiology, critical care, emergency department, medical-surgical, obstetrics, telemetry, oncology, and more preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred.
• Proficient with departmental equipment and systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide, prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care with other health care providers to meet holistic care needs of a designated group of patients.
• Collaborate with CNAs to care for an assigned group of patients.
• Ensure effective communication and coordination of care activities.
• Manage patient pain in collaboration with physical therapists.
• Participate in a supportive and positive team culture.
