The RN - Med Surg - 4th Floor Orthopaedic position at Bellevue Medical Center involves working in a collaborative Care Pair Model, where a nurse is paired with a CNA to provide better care for patients and enhance job satisfaction. This model allows for improved communication and coordination, leading to increased staff and patient satisfaction. The Med-Surg Orthopaedic Unit cares for a variety of patients, including those undergoing orthopaedic, oral-maxillofacial, plastics, general surgery, surgical oncology, and spinal surgery. The unit emphasizes teamwork, support, and positivity, with nurses collaborating closely with physical therapists to manage patients' pain effectively. The position offers opportunities for skill development and is part of a leading health network that values collaboration and exceptional care.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program.
  • Effective communication skills required.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required based on department.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire or transfer date department dependent required.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) OR Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) within one year of hire or transfer date department dependent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct patient care experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in areas such as cardiology, critical care, emergency department, medical-surgical, obstetrics, telemetry, oncology, and more preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred.
  • Proficient with departmental equipment and systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide, prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care with other health care providers to meet holistic care needs of a designated group of patients.
  • Collaborate with CNAs to care for an assigned group of patients.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination of care activities.
  • Manage patient pain in collaboration with physical therapists.
  • Participate in a supportive and positive team culture.
