The ICU Manager has comprehensive knowledge in nursing theories/practice, assesses, plans, implements/evaluates delivery of ongoing patient care and nursing practice accountability for specific department, is responsible for Quality Assessment and Improvement Program, provision of appropriate nursing care within guidelines, nursing care and effective utilization of resources, is proficient in effective leadership and interpersonal skills, assessment, and evaluation of event/variance with corrective action plans. The ICU Manager maintains patient care and nursing practice in accordance with the policies and regulations, is supportive of hospital goals, knowledgeable of organization, human resources, financial, and risk management, functions effectively in emergency situations, possesses good public relations skills, works effectively with the health care team of Directors, House Supervisors, Physicians and staff, Chief Nursing Officer, and Administrator, is knowledgeable of education methodology for orientation, in-service and resource consultant on clinical nursing skills and practice, setting priorities, time management and patient/family education, mentors Charge Nurses and Nursing Service staff appropriately, and assumes responsibility for own professional development and performance skills.
