About The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced RN Emergency Room Manager to lead emergency care teams at a 500+ bed acute care hospital. This role is responsible for managing staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing patient care quality in a fast-paced Emergency Department (ED) setting.

Requirements

  • Education: Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • BSN Preferred or active enrollment in a BSN program
  • Licensure & Certifications: Active RN License in Virginia (or compact multi-state RN license)
  • BLS (Required)
  • ACLS (Within 1 year)
  • PALS (Within 1 year)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Required
  • Experience: ER Management Experience Required
  • Charge Nurse experience (1 year = 1 year credit)
  • Staff RN experience (3 years = 1 year credit)
  • Emergency Department Manager experience (1 year = 1 year credit)

  • BSN Preferred or active enrollment in a BSN program

Responsibilities

  • Department Leadership & Management
  • Assume responsibility for unit management in the absence of the Director.
  • Plan resources efficiently to manage workload and emergency cases.
  • Develop and review unit policies and procedures to enhance patient care.
  • Staff Development & Coordination
  • Assist with hiring, training, and evaluating ED staff.
  • Ensure staff compliance with licensure, certifications, and training requirements.
  • Facilitate orientation for new employees, students, and volunteers.
  • Patient Care & Quality Improvement
  • Maintain open communication with other departments for coordinated care.
  • Ensure high-quality patient outcomes through best practices and compliance.
