About The Position

The United Presbyterian Home seeks a professional RN or LPN to add to our Weekends 6p-6a. This position would be EVERY OTHER WEEKEND Fri/Sat/Sun and is considered Part-Time. This position is responsible for the implementation of the nursing process for the total nursing care of all residents in Health Center and for the supervision of all nursing personnel assigned to assist them in providing nursing care. The RN/LPN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of all residents. This position requires theoretical and practical knowledge and competency in interpersonal relationships, communicating skills and supervisory skills.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
  • Current license in State of Iowa.
  • Must be willing to perform non-professional duties.
  • Must be able to supervise and instruct others.
  • Must be well-groomed, courteous, tactful, patient, kind and pleasant when dealing with residents and staff.
  • Have an acute sense of responsibility.
  • Possess a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm in order to create an atmosphere conducive to rehabilitation and growth.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with geriatric patients desirable.
  • Experience in supervisory capacity preferred.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of medical, social and psychological needs of residents in this type of institution.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets and efficiently executes the medical care plan as it relates to nursing, providing skillful, thorough, organized and safe nursing care.
  • Performs an in depth assessment of the newly admitted patient and establishes nursing diagnosis.
  • Abides by Home policies and procedures and interprets them to personnel, residents, staff and public.
  • Communicates information regarding the residents’ status to physicians and other health care members.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for individual nursing judgments and actions.
  • Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment.
  • Participates in the profession's efforts to establish and maintain conditions of employment conductive to high quality nursing care.
  • Maintains significant and complete records of nursing observations and care.
  • Evaluates resident care given by him/herself and other team members in relation to the recognized and interpreted needs of each resident.
  • Keeps supervisory personnel informed of any significant changes in resident condition or of any unusual resident care problems.
  • Carries out duties and responsibilities of Director in Director's absence to facilitate smooth working relations.
  • Assists in the evaluation of auxiliary personnel.
  • Orients and teaches new personnel routine operations and duties.
  • Continues professional growth through attendance of inservice meetings, continuing education courses and professional meetings.
