About The Position

Position Summary: The Sedation/Circulating Nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect provision of professional nursing care of the patients in the operating room. The nurse is accountable for ongoing evaluation and documentation of all components of care delivered to patients within the perioperative and outpatient environment utilizing the nursing process. Position Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. RN/LPN with an active license in Georgia. Must hold BCLS & ACLS Certification. Ability to work independently with detail and accuracy. Must comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Leads team and ensures smooth transition pre/intra procedures. Maintains patient documentation. Pre-operative patient education/teaching. Pre/Post-Procedure Phone Calls. Essential Job Functions: Observes facility policies, procedures, and processes. Ensures that the OR is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner. Records all information timely and accurately. Gathering supplies and equipment for surgical cases. Preparing surgery suite for surgical procedures. Restocking supplies in surgery suite when procedures have ended for the day. Monitoring surgery inventory and notifying appropriate individual(s) when supplies are needed. Circulating surgical procedures for various surgeons who operate at the facility. Providing conscious sedation under direct supervision of physician. Carrying out physician's orders. Operates equipment and performs technical skills according to policies and standards; learns new skills and seeks assistance appropriately. Thorough assessment skills and documentation. Effectively organizes time, equipment, and supplies. Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of care. Assists in inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the operative areas. Maintains order and cleanliness in procedure room and operating rooms. Performs time-out as required by the center’s policies and procedures. Describes the intra-operative experience to the patient, including what to expect during the procedure. Ensure necessary signatures have been obtained before the start of any procedure or surgery. Discusses all relevant findings with the physician prior to the physician’s preoperative assessment of the patient. Documents intraoperative care according to policy/procedure. Interacts professionally with physicians, patients, families, and others. Help patients with their needs and concerns. Ensure the patient’s safety and comfort during and immediately after the procedure. Respect the confidentiality of patients, the center, and physician-related information. Maintain confidentiality of patient records and use complete discretion when discussing patient information. Establishes and maintains effective communication and good working relationships with coworkers for the patient’s benefit. Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain a steady level of productivity; self-motivated. Perform all other assigned job duties by the director of nurse, administrator, or providers.

Requirements
