About The Position

The position involves providing care in accordance with professional standards and HSL core competencies. The role requires collaboration with the care team to develop and revise patient-centered care plans, delivering care under a primary nursing model while maintaining accountability for assigned patients. Best practices and evidence-based interventions are utilized to ensure optimal outcomes, with accurate documentation in the electronic medical record. The position supports autonomy and individual choice for all patients and maintains compliance with all regulatory, clinical, and organizational policies. Participation in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives is expected, along with engagement in shared governance, committees, and new process development. The role also includes serving as a resource and mentor to Patient Care Associates and other staff, identifying and responding to safety concerns in the unit environment, and participating in unit activities such as meal assistance and social events.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) must hold full accountability for independent assessments and the development of individualized care plans.
  • Supervise LPN and nursing assistant clinical work.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) must collaborate with the RN for assessment and care planning.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a charge nurse role.
  • Ability to function independently in charge nurse roles without RN oversight.
